Summer Neon

Dress: Primark
Belt: Primark
Jacket: River Island
Bracelets: h&m
Ring: Topshop
Tan sandals (unseen): Miss Selfridge

I wore this outfit at the begging of the month when I went out for a meal with my mum and her friends for her birthday before ditching them and heading off to the dogs with my friends for another birthday. I had recently  just bought this river island jacket and was determined to wear it. I chose the simple white primark dress as it was a really nice day and it was easy to wear. I wore a rose gold bracelet with a silver bracelet and I liked the effect of the mixed metals and textures.

I just attempted taking some pictures for my first styling post which features a yellow mullet skirt. I am hoping that the pictures will turn out ok - I really struggled to find a spot in my house which has decent light and a plain background (such a spot doesn't exist in my house). I decided on the kitchen as that is the only plain wall in my house (everywhere else is blocked my furniture).

Casual Clothes and Casual Hair

Top: Primark
Skirt: New Look
Belt: Primark

This is just a really simple outfit which is what I would call causal although I do realize that others do not just wear skirts and dresses everyday with boots. Both the top and skirt are really basic staple items in my wardrobe and together with the belt they are effortless and easy to wear while still retaining my edgy girly style.

Also my hair is in a bun! This is big news as I hardly ever wear my hair up, I always make time to do my hair before I leave the house. For the past year I have been curling my hair almost daily as it is my favourite style and I think it suits me the most however I have just been blow drying it recently and then not doing anything else with it so it is straight which is my hairs natural state. When I was younger and still in school I used to straighten my hair every single day despite the fact that it was already pretty straight, looking back on pictures now I wonder what on earth me and the rest of the girls in my year were thinking??

Anyway, I have worn my hair up outside a few times recently. I used to shy away from having all my hair pulled back of my face as I felt too exposed and couldn't hide behind my locks however I as I have got older and learnt more about skincare and a good concealer I have got more confidence to go out without doing my hair. I am still not sure if the up do is for me, I have quite a round face however it does make life easier if you can pull your hair onto your head in less than a minute when you have a 9 o'clock after a night out.

Little Bow Print

Dress: h&m
Jumper: New Look
Belt: Primark
Necklace: Tiffany
Bag: Vintage

I have recently become a bit obsessed with printed skirts at the moment so I have been using my summer dresses as skirts and wearing t-shirts or thin jumpers over them. I really like doing this as means I can get a lot of wear out of my summer dresses which we still don't have the weather for.

I have not really been up to much this week apart from revising. I did have a little trip to town today to get some spot cream as a group of them have decided to take up residence on my chin - lucky I have been stuck inside revising so I have been able to hide them from the world. I also got some heat protection spray as I am very bad at looking after my hair - I use a lot of heat on my hair and never use any product on it so I am trying to be good to it in the hope

I did also end up in New Look and came out with a new dress and clutch, oppps. I have no will power when it comes to shopping. My name is Becki and I am a shopaholic. In my defence the dress was on sale and the bag was just too lovely to leave behind.

Plain and Simple

Top: Primark
Skirt: New Look
Belt: Primark

I wore this yesterday. I had to go into uni to hand an essay in (Just one more to go now!!) and then I came back to Manchester. I am back home this weekend as I bought my cousin tickets to see example for his 18th last year and we are off to see him tonight. I am excited and looking forward to having a break from essays. Also my stone roses tickets came while I was at uni so I had them waiting for me however I have to wait June to see them. I am already thinking about what I am going to wear however I will have to wait until the day as Manchester weather is very unpredictable and prone to lots of rain. I think some new wellies will be needed.

I just wore something simple and I didn't bother with any jewelry as I quickly got ready to make sure that I had plenty of time in case I had any problems with my coursework. I took these pictures last night which is why I don't have my jacket or boots on however I wore my black boots and leather jacket which somehow find there way into all my outfit posts. Sorry for the short post but I still have one more essay to go and they saved the best for last, I mean who doesn't love grammar essays???

Print on Print

Dress (worn as a skirt): Primark
Top: Primark
Belt: Primark
Cardigan: Primark
Necklace: Vintage Fair
Hand Harness: asos
Nails: Barry M in Berry Ice Cream and Orchid

I am rewarding myself for finishing 2 out of my 4 essays by writing a sneaky blog post. A strange reward as I have spent the last week glued to my laptop typing away however writing about my clothes is much more exciting than my coursework. I bought this dress over easter while at home as I adored the pattern on it. The dress has cut outs at the side which is right where my bra goes so I will only wear it with a top or jacket on as it looks sloppy with the bra showing. I think it will be perfect for on holiday though as it is really light weight cotton and the zip at the front means it is easy to throw on. I wore a white vest top with a faint aztec print on it, I have fallen in love with this vest top, I am going to have to go back to primark and stock up on a few colours as they are so easy to wear. I love the vest over this dress as you can also see a hint of the black hearts from the dress through it.

I realise that this outfit is basically a primark advert, I didn't realise everything was from the same shop till I put it all on however it was all bought over a long period of time - I have had my grandad cardigan for years now. It is one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe as it is super comfy and warm. I will wear this over anything, I love wearing it with my dresses to create a causal look or layering it with my parka mac.

I got a huge box from asos this morning, which quickly got rid of all my anger towards the postman at half 8 this morning. I ordered two pairs of boots from the sale which I have been lusting over for ages and I finally took the plunge when my student loan came in. I also bought this cross hand harness. I know I have been declaring my love for everything in this post but I promise this is last - I love this!! It is really simple but it looks  like I have put a lot of effort it, which is my favourite kind of piece. I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of this as it will go with almost any outfit. I think it works perfectly with my edge-y girly style.

Taking co-ordination to a new level

yes I did take OOTD pics in the loos but in my defense I was late getting ready plus they are really nice loos and they match my outfit

Dress: New Look
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Boots: KG
Bag: Vintage Fair

I went to Jamie's Italian in Manchester yesterday for my Mum's friends birthday. It is in an old bank which has been converted into a restaurant and it looks so nice. We were in a private room which used to be the old mangers office which was a lovely surprise plus it meant that we could be as loud as we wanted. The food was really nice. I had one of the specials with garlic chips and carrots - I could eat it again right now.

I wore a cream lace dress which I bought two years ago for my eighteenth and I still love it today. And surprise, surprise I wore black tights, black boots and a black jacket. I do own other shoes and coats however I am just so in love with them that nothing else I own lives up to them. I did splash the cash on my boots and jacket but I really am getting my moneys worth. I am trying to stop buying new things all the time which are cheap and just buy the things I really like which will go well with the rest of my wardrobe even if they are a little more than I would usually pay.

I am going back to uni tomorrow to finish off all my essays before revision starts so I won't be blogging much as I won't have anything to share with you. Oh and I will be really busy with my essays....

Sunshine in the Rain

Top: Primark
Skirt: Primark
Belt: New Look
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Boots: KG
Bag: Vintage Fair
Necklace: Vintage Fair

I bought this skirt the other week during a very brief spell of sunny weather and it has been mocking from my wardrobe ever since. I nearly wore it the other day but I chickened out as I didn't think I could pull it off with the weather being so miserable. I finally plucked up the courage and put it on. I decided to go for a simple look with a slight edge so I paired it with my usual black tights, boots and jacket and a simple white tee.

It was my best friend from home birthday yesterday so some of the girls celebrated by going round to hers for some chilli (pizza for me) and some drinks. I don't get to see my friends from too much as we are all at different Unis and it difficult to find a time when we are all free but most of us are back for easter so it was really good to see them and catch up with everyone. We spent the time trading drinking games before heading off to the pub quiz which we lost by a mile.

I have been busy with family stuff and work this past week. I never seem to have time to do outfit posts when I am out with my mum as I never have time because she is always waiting for me. I always ending up doing her make up though so she only has herself to blame. We went shopping to find my mum some new bits so naturally I ended up buying myself a few things while we were out. I will try and do a haul sometime this week.

Standard Becki Outfit

Dress (and belt): Primark
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Boots: KG
Nails: Barry M in Mint Green

I have been very lazy with my outfit posts in the past two weeks. I am home for easter but I have 4 essays to do so I have just been wearing leggings and pj bottoms as they are comfy and I am being lazy at home. I will be doing more stuff next week as it is easter weekend so hopefully I will remember to snap a few pictures for you.

Rambling aside, I did manage to take an outfit pic on saturday which I completely forgot about until today. My family from Sunderland was down this weekend so we went out for some tea and then to the pub for a family friends birthday. I wanted something causal (well my idea of casual) so I wore the white primark dress I bought last week and paired it with my usual black tights, black boots and leather jacket.

One of my friends was laughing at me stocking up on black tights last week as we had a few days of really nice weather however the coldness and rain has returned with a little sprinkling of snow. I love summer fashions however I have the palest legs known to man and they can never been seen without a weeks worth of fake tan so I am happy that I can wear my black tights for the time being. My legs look a lot better in black tights and I would hate to shatter the illusion by unleashing them on the public, they have also been known to blind people with their whiteness so it for everyones benefit that I keep wearing my black tights.

Here is a quick snap of my tight-less legs. I wore this last week when we had some sunshine. I put two layers of tan on just so they would look like normal legs however as you can see they are still on the pale side. I feel very naked without tights.

Home, Sweet Home: The Land of Internet

I am back in Manchester now which I am very happy about as I spent the last week of term in Lancaster with no internet, which is why I have not blogged in a week. The few hours of internet I had while in uni were spent catching up on mail online and online shopping. I still read my favourite blogs however I forgot to bring my memory card with my pictures on so I didn't have anything to post about. I was really good this week with my outfit pictures however towards the end of the week I did give up as I knew I wouldn't have internet till I got back home.

I didn't realise how much I rely on the internet till I had a week without it. The first two days I was fine however after that it began to get a little annoying. I use the internet for my uni work so I had to take my laptop into uni and get all the documents I needed for coursework and save them to my desktop. Even when I had all my work I still found I rely on the internet a lot for checking definitions and references. I sounds really bad but I really missed being able to get online instantly, I am defiantly the child of the online generation.

Since I took some outfit posts I thought I would share these two with you. I took some of my everyday outfits but they were causal outfits which I have worn before and I am sure I will show you again some time.

 Dress: h&m
Belt: New Look
Jacket: Miss Selfidge

Dress: french connection

I wore this when I went out on wednesday night. I got this dress two years ago for my sixth form leaving do and it is one of my favourites. I love the print on it and the colours, as soon as I saw the dress I knew I had to have it. It is also really flattering on my curves so I always feel really nice when I wear this.

I am going shopping tomorrow with my best friend from home so I am looking forward to sharing my haul with you. I have a few things that I am looking out for so hopefully I will come home tomorrow with lots of heavy bags and a very light purse.

C for Chatterbox

Vest top: h&m
Shirt: Primark
Wet look leggings: New Look
Jacket: Miss Selfidge
Belt: New Look
Bag: Vintage fair
Ring: Accessorize
Boots: KG (unseen)

I went out for drinks with the housemates last night and I had no tights as they were all in the wash. I have nightmares about things like that happening. My flatmate got some wet look leggings last week and they looked really nice on so I thought I would get my old beauties out. I have these for a few years now and I used to wear them all the time for going out and I would always were them for gigs as they were comfy and really easy to wear with a long top and biker boots. It was nice wearing some thing other than a dress or skirt for a change despite it begin out of my comfort zone. Maybe I will get a pair of nice jeans for going out in when I  go shopping? Too far??

I said in my last post that I have been really busy with uni work this week so I don't think I will do a Sunday Summary like I normally do as I haven't took any pictures this week - and what is a blog post without pictures. Me and Laura had a girls night on Wednesday after finishing our last ever grammar presentation :) We had pre-drinks while watching some old sex and the city episodes. We have been watching the box set for over a year and are only up to season 4 so far - we really need to up our game. We then headed to town on the last bus so there was no queue to get in Sugar so we had big smiles as it is normally about an hour. We were both rubbish and didn't take any outfit pictures but I am sure i will wear my dress again sometime to show you.

I also had my last Stylistics presentation this week which was really bittersweet. I was really glad to have all my presentations done for the year however Stylistics is my favorite module and my lecturer who is also the tutor is retiring this year and it makes me very very sad. He is amazing, I have never met anyone who is so passionate about their work and I have to say that it is infectious. Stylistics is the linguistic analysis of literary texts so it is the perfect mix of lit and language for me and Mick Short who is my lecturer has done so much work in this field and is one of the best stylistions in the world and has done a lot of work with Geoff Leech (for all you language geeks) who used to work at Lancaster. I am hoping to do my own stylistic analysis for my dissertation, I am pretty sad that I won't have Mick as my supervisor however he has assured me that their are other in the department who can supervise but they are not as good as him :) Mick is famous for wearing bow ties rather than ties so for our final lecture on Monday we are all going to wear bow ties, I have actually borrowed one of his to wear and he taught me how to tie it. I will make sure I get a picture of me in the bow tie.

Sorry for the long post, I went off on a bit of tangent. I also want to say Happy Mother's Day to my amazing mummy! We are celebrating mothers day next week as I finish for easter this week so will be home for a few weeks. I will do a post next week on what I bought my mum and about how lovely she is. I bought her present a few weeks ago and I am so bad with presents, I always want to give them out as soon as I buy them and my mum is my favorite person to shop for - I always want to get her everything.

G for Good as New

Top: h&m
Skirt: h&m
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Scarf: Primark
Rings: New Look and topshop

I have had two presentations this week so I haven't taken any outfit pictures all week. I cannot believe that I have finished all my presentations for second year, I just have four essays to write and exams now till I am a third year - this year has gone way too fast! and I have a feeling that next year will be just as bad.

I discovered this top in my wardrobe this morning, I bought this a few months back and completely forgot about it. I don't think I have ever worn it. It a bit big, I must have bought it when I loved wearing oversized vests, I don't think it is very flattering as an oversized vest on me as it completely hides my waist and it makes me look big rather than curvy but it is fine with a skirt. I hate it when I buy things and forget about them, it feels like a waste because I never seem to love them as much - the worrying thing is that this happens to me quite a lot, I tend to wear the same things every week while half my clothes just sit in my wardrobe. I did have a clear out before I came back to uni after Christmas so I will probably have another while at home over easter and then I have space for some new items. I am itching to go shopping, I haven't been in while and I love shopping. I am always looking at stuff online but I really like to try things on before I buy as I am quite an awkward size.

Speaking of shopping, I have recently discovered the buy and sell on asos and I love it. There is some great stuff on there. There are a number of things I have my eye on such as some lovely vintage designer scarfs and a polka dot skirt. The only problem is that some of the items only have one of the item so if you love something I would get it as soon as possible. I am still deciding on what I want - I have about £200 worth of stuff which I really like and my mum will kill me if get it all. Plus the vintage fair is at Lancaster again tomorrow so might pick up a few bargains there however if the vintage fair fails me I am sure I will end up making a sneaky purchase.

P for Polka Dot Overload

Shirt: Primark
Skirt: h&m
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Boots: KG
Bag: Vintage fair
Necklace: Tiffany

This is the outfit I wore on Saturday when I went for drinks with the housemates. I have worn this outfit before and a really cool woman at the vintage fair said she really loved my clashing polka dots. I was so happy, I have never been complimented by a stranger before, especially one who made amazing jewelry and was wearing a really cute dress. She was probably just being polite as I was buying a ring from her but I think it still counts. I bought this skirt and top in my end of January spree, ( I think I am due another spree soon) I was feeling very girly and clearly cheating on my beloved stripes, I am sure they will forgive me. I really like the clash of the two different polka dots as I think it is a more subtle way of clashing prints as they are both quite simple. On my next spree I am going to look out for some simple prints which I can clash, I don't think I am quite ready for clashing bold prints just yet but I am working on it.

B for Bright and Black

Shirt: Matalan
Top: h&m
Leggings: h&m
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Necklace: Tiffany

I am running low on tights this week due to ripping two pairs and it being the end of the week so I have to do some washing. I don't own any pants so I live in skirts, dresses and leggings. I was only in uni for an hour today so I thought I would throw some leggings on - I wasn't wasting a good pair of tights just for an hour and a trip to asda.

I got this shirt from Matalan when I was home the other week. I always see nice stuff in magazines from Matalan but for some reason I hardly ever go in. I have just discovered that they have website so I would recommend having a look as it is fairly cheap and I love the home-ware department. I was not overwhelmed with the stuff in the store but I this shirt caught my eye - It is so bright. It was £12 so it wasn't expensive. It is quite sheer but I like to wear long vest tops with leggings that cover my bum - I hate it when I can see peoples underwear through leggings so I always make sure I have extra thick leggings and a long top.

L for Lace, Lists and inappropriate Licks

Dress: Primark
Belt: New Look
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Necklace: Tiffany

I have had a full day in uni today so I am glad to be home in and in my pj's now and waiting for my big fat gypsy wedding to come on, bliss. I am in a list writing mood today so I thought I would share my day with you in list form.

1. Ripped a pair of tights
2. Made a fish finger sandwich with 5 fish fingers
3. Got my dress caught on Laura's bag in the middle of Alex square (the middle of campus, lots of people)
4. Got toffee crunch ice cream from ice cream shop on campus
5. Accidently made an inappropriate suggestion about licking each others ice cream which was taken the wrong way, understandable looking back on it
6. Made some lecture notes in doodle form
7. Got my dress caught on Laura's bag, this time on the bus,  tying to get off, lots of people we know, looked like a man walking his dog, I was the dog, walked half way home like this, freedom
8. Ripped another pair of tights

P for Peachy Hearts

Shirt: New Look
Shorts: Primark
Necklace: Tiffany
Nails: OPI in Suzi Says Feng Shui

I really must stop wearing buying sheer shirts but they look nice when they are not subjected to the dreaded flash of my camera. I have been having some issues with my tights recently, the elastic seems to have completely gone in all of them and they fall down every four steps. I go through a ridiculous number of tights in a year, I wear them nearly everyday and they have to be at least 60 denier. I am in serious need of a trip to primark to stock up (I have been known to spend £20 just on tights in there, yes I do get funny looks). Is is mad that I would struggle to dress myself I had no black tights? even in summer? As always I blame my mother for my addiction, she is also a lover of black tights and claims that black tights can finish off any outfit. I think she might be right but don't tell her that.

R for Red and Black

Top: Primark
Skirt: h&m
Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Ring: Vintage fair

I haven't done an outfit of the day in ages. I keep forgetting to take a picture, my laziness also plays a part as I am always rushing in the morning so I never have time and as soon as I get back in I put my pajamas on. I have mentioned my new jacket in my past two but I really have worn it everyday. I got this top a few weeks ago from primark and I have picked it up a few times and always put it back but I decided that today was going to be the day. The collar and buttons give it a girly feel which I thought went well with the toughness of the jacket. I have this skirt in a few colours but I liked the red one with this outfit as it adds a nice bit of colour to the outfit.

I have been in uni today for my grammar presentation (We got an A!! - It is not yet official but I saw her notebook from where I was sat) and then I went to into town just to pick up a few things. Surprise surprise I ended up in new look... I will never learn. I was really good however and didn't buy any clothes, I just ran to the back of the shop and hid in the accessories section. They still have their buy one get one free offer on so I did end up picking up two rings but I think I deserve it for not buying any clothes (I saw so many things which I liked, sadface).

New Look rings: £2.99 and £3.99

V for Valentines Stripes

Happy Belated Valentines Day everyone!

I was going to post this last night but by the time I got home I just wanted to get in my lovely bed. I was lucky enough to receive a valentines day card and a present.... from my  best friends. I loved the card from Simon however his poem was a poor attempt at football banter. Laura bought me some love hearts so I did get one thing from my Valentines Wish List.

I celebrated my Valentines Day with my bestie Laura by going to see an advanced screening of This Means War with Tom Hardy and Chris Pine. I am in love, not only are they both gorgeous, the film was actually really funny, the guy next to me was nearly crying at one point. Big thumbs up from me. We finished the night off with some cocktails at yates, they had a valentines special on and it was delish plus it was only £5 for a pitcher :)

Shirt: Primark
Skirt: New Look
Belt: New Look
Boots: KG

Nails: Colbalt Blue

This is what I wore out yesterday. I am in keeping with the stripe theme from yesterday. I  wore this outfit for uni yesterday but with a blue and white stripy top and my grandad cardigan as it is comfy and helps keep me nice and warm.

M for Monday Blues

Top: h&m
Skirt: h&m
Cardigan: h&m
Scarf: Primark
Nails: Barry M in Colbalt Blue

I was in uni at 9am today so I got dressed in the dark. I was feeling pretty lazy so I paired some of my basics together for a casual look. It is only in writing this post that I realised just how much h&m stuff I wear,  it is definitely my favourite shop for basics due to the cheap prices and good quality. When I am feeling lazy I tend to clash my colours to make my outfits a little less boring.
